Helen Womack, former Reuter correspondent in Moscow.
Thanks for your question Helen.
Hi. I am an investigative and political journalist from Uganda. I have been trying to get online with you guys to participate in the on-going discussion but unsuccessfully. May be i should now just ask a question since am getting busier after failing to get online through my smart phone. How possibly is it easy for me to use social media as a research and resource tool in my investigation of say, a corruption story in Health and Parliament, without being scooped by colleagues?
Thanks Charles, we’ll forward your question for consideration. The webinar will be available on demand so you can view it at your convenience if you can’t participate in the live event.
This is the first time to attend a webinar and I want to know how it goes
Hi
Question for the panel – you just raised the point about verification and questioned whether some news organisations are doing enough of this.
What techniques do you use? Are there new standards needed for verifying social media given the pace news breaks on Twitter et al or do the same old rules apply?
Thanks
